About the Role:
As the Automation Engineering Leader you will provide strategic leadership and technical direction for automation engineering teams across your regions overseeing both site- based and regional automation engineers and managers. Youll drive operational excellence across our fulfillment network while establishing standards best practices and technical frameworks that ensure consistent team performance. Youll work with state-of-the-art technology including conveyors sortation systems scanners cameras print and apply systems and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) platforms. Through your strategic leadership technical expertise and team development initiatives youll directly contribute to ensuring our customers receive their orders with Amazons signature speed and accuracy while building organizational capabilities and driving operational excellence across the network.

Key job responsibilities
You will lead and develop multiple teams of automation engineering managers and engineers across regions establishing training programs mentorship frameworks and career development pathways to build technical capabilities and leadership skills
You will provide direction and technical support for complex engineering issues across the network driving technician standard work root cause analysis and implementing scalable solutions to eliminate critical asset downtime
You will drive Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for automation teams across your network ensuring each team is compliant with operational standards and targets
You will drive adoption of control systems standards optimal code/parameter sets and technical frameworks for PLC/PC controllers SCADA/OEE platforms and material handling systems
You will drive network-wide continuous improvement initiatives focused on upskilling the organization and large-scale projects coordinating cross-functional teams and managing stakeholder relationships to achieve business objectives and operational excellence with travel up to 20% to support automation engineering operations and ensure consistent implementation of standards and best practices across multiple facilities and regions.

- 7 years of industrial controls and automation experience
- 7 years of process/production environment PLC-controlled automation and issue diagnosis experience
- 7 years of robotics work cells and control systems experience
- 7 years of Siemens Allen-Bradley or Codesys Ladder Logic and structure programming experience
- 7 years of electrical theory robotics controls components and automated equipment experience
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Electrical Engineering or Automation Engineering or 7 years of PLC programming or automation engineering experience

- Masters degree in Computer Science Electrical Engineering or Automation Engineering
- Masters degree or Six Sigma Black Belt
- Experience maintaining troubleshooting programming and designing HMI and control network components
- Experience programming with RSLogix5000 Studio 5000 FT View and other controls software platforms
- Experience leading Controls in manufacturing or complex industrial environments

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience qualifications and location.
