As a New Graduate Automation Engineer you will join a team responsible for developing innovative automation solutions that improve software deployment efficiency reduce operational risk and enhance customer experience across major wireless networks in North America. This role provides an opportunity to learn and apply modern software engineering automation analytics and AI technologies while contributing to mission-critical customer deployments.

What you will do:

Software Development & Automation

  • Work alongside experienced software developers automation engineers AI practitioners telecom subject matter experts support engineers and software delivery teams to create tools and solutions that directly impact network modernization activities
  • Design develop test and maintain automation solutions using Python and related technologies
  • Create tools that automate operational engineering and software delivery activities.
  • Contribute to automation frameworks supporting large-scale software upgrades and network deployments.
  • Develop scripts APIs integrations and workflows that improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.

AI-Assisted Operations

  • Assist in developing AI-enabled workflows and intelligent automation solutions.
  • Explore practical uses of Large Language Models prompt engineering agentic automation and AI-assisted development tools.
  • Help translate operational pain points into repeatable tools knowledge retrieval solutions and decision-support capabilities.

Data Analytics & Reporting

  • Analyze operational data to identify trends inefficiencies and improvement opportunities.
  • Support development of dashboards reporting solutions and performance metrics.
  • Use data to improve troubleshooting quality software delivery readiness and customer-impact awareness.

Operations & Network Support

  • Support software upgrade and deployment activities across customer networks.
  • Assist engineering teams in troubleshooting operational issues and identifying root causes.
  • Collaborate with technical leads to improve automated recovery mitigation and preventative capabilities.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing customer-impacting events.

Agile Delivery & Collaboration

  • Participate in Agile ceremonies backlog refinement sprint planning demos and retrospectives.
  • Create technical documentation design specifications user guides and handover materials.
  • Gather requirements from stakeholders and translate business needs into technical solutions.
  • Collaborate across engineering software delivery support project management and customer-facing teams.
Join our Team

The skills you bring:

  • Recent graduation or expected graduation with a Bachelors degree in Computer Science Software Engineering Computer Engineering Electrical Engineering Telecommunications Engineering Data Science or a related STEM discipline.
  • 0-2 years of professional experience including internships co-ops academic projects capstone projects or personal projects.
  • Foundational understanding of software development principles and object-oriented programming concepts.
  • Experience with Python programming through coursework internships research or independent projects.
  • Strong analytical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced collaborative technical environment.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.

Experience through coursework internships research personal projects certifications or open-source contributions in one or more of the following areas is preferred:

  • Programming & Development: Python Java JavaScript REST APIs Git code review unit testing
  • Automation & DevOps: Ansible CI/CD pipelines GitHub Actions workflow orchestration infrastructure automation
  • Data & Analytics: SQL databases data visualization reporting tools data analysis operational metrics
  • Artificial Intelligence: Prompt engineering LLM-based applications AI-assisted development tools machine learning fundamentals agentic AI concepts
  • Operating Systems & Cloud: Linux containers Docker Kubernetes Azure AWS GCP
  • Telecommunications: Wireless communications LTE 5G network management telecom software systems O&M configuration and troubleshooting

Your Pay
The salary range for this position is dependent on various factors including but not limited to location and the candidates combination of job-related knowledge qualifications skills education training and experience.

Short-Term Variable Compensation Plan (select STV or SIP):Your pay also includes the opportunity for an annual bonus. Actual bonus payouts are based on performance of the business against the units objectives individual performance and the individual bonus target. Certain eligibility and pro-ration rules apply.

Sales Incentive Plan (select STV or SIP):Your pay also includes the opportunity for sales incentives as a part of Ericssons Sales Incentive Plan. Actual payouts are based on performance of the business against the units objectives individual performance and the individual incentive target. Certain eligibility and pro-ration rules apply.

Your Health
Ericsson offers excellent health benefits including the choice of three medical plan options and a dental plan option that allow an employee to select the level of coverage that suits their needs. Employees will receive company credits in an amount equal to the cost that Ericsson pays toward the cost of their medical and dental premiums for themselves and eligible covered dependents.

Your Financial Security

We invest in both your short and long-term financial wellbeing. The Ericsson US 401(k) Plan offers an automatic 3% company contribution and Ericsson match $1 for every $1 you put into the 401(k) Plan on the first 3% of your eligible pay plus 50 cents on every $1 on the next 2% of eligible pay. When you contribute at least 5% of eligible pay you are receiving Ericssons full matching contributions of 4%. Matching and company automatic contributions stop when your total eligible pay for the year reaches the IRS limits. Employees will also receive company credits in an amount equal to the cost of basic life insurance and basic accidental death and dismemberment coverage as well as short-term and long-term disability coverage. Employees also have the option to participate in Ericssons Stock Purchase Plan.

Your Time
Your work-life balance is important to us. New employees are provided a minimum of 15 days of accrued vacation up to 3 personal days per year 11 annual holidays 8 hours of volunteer time and 80 hours of sick time annually. Please note paid time off is pro-rated based on the employees start date. Furthermore Ericsson provides up to 16 weeks of paid maternity leave and 6 weeks of parental or adoption leave at 100% of pay.
