Audiology 4th Year Externship

Position Spotlight:

  • Currently enrolled in a 4-year accredited audiology doctoral program
  • Clinical diagnostic audiologic vestibular and electrophysiological testing. Cochlear implant hearing aid and bone-anchored device evaluations selection activation and follow-up care.
  • Work within the Medical affairs department at Cochlear to submit research projects manage studies and data support product development and provide technical support.
  • 3 days a week at Rocky Mountain Ear Center in Englewood CO. 2 days a week at Cochlear Americas in Lone Tree CO starting in May/June of 2026. Commuting between offices is required.

About the role

The Audiology extern will provide support to project teams within the Medical Affairs department including Clinical Affairs Medical Education Scientific Communication and Insights and Medical Services. Responsibilities will encompass evaluating clinical study files data entry and reviewing clinical performance data for investigations in conjunction with Rocky Mountain Ear Center. Additional duties include assisting with customer clinician support and providing general Medical Affairs support for ongoing projects. Additionally the extern will have opportunities to collaborate with other internal departments such as marketing recipient services reimbursement and regulatory ensuring a well-rounded clinical and educational experience.

This externship also provides strong clinical experience at Rocky Mountain Ear Center with in-depth training in cochlear implants hearing aids vestibular testing and specialized audiological assessments with opportunities to contribute to patient care and diagnostics alongside a multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnostic testing including: pure tone audiometry speech testing tympanometry OAEs VNG VEMP ECoG ASSR
  • Clinical evaluations and activations for cochlear implants hearing aids and bone anchored devices
  • Continued care of devices during cochlear implant reprogramming and hearing aid check appointments
  • Prepare detailed proposals and presentations for the annual ACIA meeting. Include thorough literature reviews methodology and anticipated outcomes.
  • Insert Data into database management system and ensure accuracy.
  • Coordinate with participants to arrange convenient times for study sessions ensuring all necessary preparations are made. Maintain a detailed schedule and follow up with reminders.
  • Scoring test materials and developing study materials
  • Work closely with product training teams to assist with educational content that accurately reflects the latest innovations.
  • Collect and analyze clinical data and prepare detailed reports and presentations to communicate findings to stakeholders
  • Offer comprehensive technical support to ensure optimal patient care.


Key Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited 4-year audiology doctoral program
  • Ability to collaborate with patients physicians and coworkers
  • Ability to perform comprehensive audiologic evaluations on adults/pediatrics
  • Experience with hearing aids. Knowledge of hearing aid cochlear implant and baha fitting and use
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and public communication skills
  • Ability to work independently but also collaborate across functions
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (e.g. Microsoft Teams Word Excel Powerpoint)

Total Rewards
