Looking for something beyond traditional general practice or emergency medicine
A specialty veterinary organization in the Austin metro area is seeking an Associate Veterinarian to join a highly collaborative team focused on advanced diagnostic medicine and complex case management.
This is an opportunity to practice medicine in a setting where the emphasis is on thoughtful diagnostics patient care collaboration and clinical growth rather than a high-volume appointment schedule.
Previous advanced imaging experience is not required.
Veterinarians coming from general practice emergency medicine or specialty environments will receive extensive training and hands-on support to become comfortable working within this unique model of care.
As an Associate Veterinarian youll manage patients undergoing advanced diagnostic evaluation while collaborating closely with specialists experienced veterinary technicians referring veterinarians and the broader clinical team.
Responsibilities include:
- Performing comprehensive patient examinations and diagnostic assessments
- Developing diagnostic plans in collaboration with referring veterinarians and veterinary specialists
- Managing anesthesia and sedation for advanced diagnostic procedures
- Monitoring patients throughout procedures and recovery
- Reviewing laboratory findings and pre-anesthetic evaluations
- Collaborating with specialists on complex cases
- Communicating findings recommendations and next steps with referring veterinarians
- Providing compassionate communication to pet owners when appropriate
- Maintaining high standards for patient safety medical quality and documentation
- Helping coordinate patient flow and daily clinical operations
- Supporting an efficient and collaborative clinical environment
You do not need to come from an imaging background to be successful in this role.
The organization provides structured onboarding mentorship and hands-on clinical training designed to help experienced veterinarians transition into advanced diagnostic medicine.
Training may include:
- Advanced diagnostic workflows
- Cross-sectional imaging case management
- Ultrasound and radiography case coordination
- Specialty anesthesia and sedation protocols
- Image-guided diagnostic procedures
- Collaboration with veterinary specialists
- Referral communication and case consultation
As you become established in the role there may also be opportunities to mentor veterinary interns participate in education strengthen referral relationships and take on additional leadership responsibilities.

Required
- DVM or equivalent degree
- Eligibility for veterinary licensure in Texas
- Clinical experience in general practice emergency medicine specialty medicine or another fast-paced veterinary environment
- Strong patient assessment and medical decision-making skills
- Comfort with anesthesia and sedation
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Collaborative approach to patient care
Preferred but not required
- Three or more years of clinical veterinary experience
- Experience with diagnostic imaging or referral medicine
- Experience mentoring interns veterinary students or other veterinarians
- Interest in education leadership or practice development
