Job Description:

The Department of Mathematical Sciences consists of 28 tenured and tenure-track faculty members with strong expertise in the areas of algebra and combinatorics fixed point theory statistics bioinformatics computational science topology data science applied mathematics and mathematics/statistics education. Notable accomplishments of the productive faculty include publication of high-impact peer-reviewed manuscripts and annual research expenditures of $1.2M. A major addition to Departments programs is the Data Science PhD program which launched in 2021 and has already produced graduates. The Department also contributes to interdisciplinary programs across the University including the Bioinformatics and Computational Science graduate programs in the College of Science.

Successful candidates are expected to develop productive research programs mentor and teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and to direct M.S. theses and Ph.D. dissertations. Candidates with experience in industry and/or applied interdisciplinary research projects are encouraged to apply. Anticipated start date is fall 2027.

Requirements:

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in a mathematical computational or data science related field postdoctoral experience a strong record of research accomplishments and the capacity to secure extramural funding.
