The Opportunity:
The Gene and Linda Voiland School of Chemical Engineering and Bioengineering (VSCEB) at Washington State University (WSU) invites applications for permanent 9-month tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant and/or Associate Professor level. We anticipate the new hire will assist VSCEB at WSU to further grow our vibrant research and educational programs. These positions will be located at the WSU Pullman campus and the individuals hired will be expected to join existing faculty members on August 16 2027.
The VSCEB is recruiting for multiple tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant and/or Associate Professor levels. Appointments will be made based on candidates qualifications; please refer to the Required and Preferred Qualifications section below for additional details. The successful candidate is expected to establish a dynamic externally funded nationally recognized research program teach core and elective undergraduate and graduate courses in chemical engineering mentor a varied group of students perform professional service and publish scholarly work. VSCEB is excited to welcome outstanding candidates working in heterogeneous homogeneous or bioinspired catalysis with a strong component in artificial intelligence (AI)-driven automation laboratories and data science to tackle pressing challenges in energy environment and bioeconomy. Preference will be given to candidates working in research areas that strengthen our existing research programs such as heterogeneous catalysis electrocatalysis and computational catalysis plastic upcycling and carbon-negative H2 production. Successful candidates are expected to build collaborations within the Voiland School and with the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory other WSU departments nationally and internationally.

9-Month Academic Salary:
Assistant Professor: $110000 - $120000 Commensurate with experience and qualifications
Associate Professor: $120000 - $135000 Commensurate with experience and qualifications
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110 the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidates current experience education skills and abilities related to the position or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

Required Qualifications for Assistant Professor:
Possess the potential to establish a strong nationally recognized AI/data science-directed research program with extramural funding that complements and uniquely enhances existing programs within the school and WSU.
Required Qualifications for Associate Professor:
Demonstrated strong record of extramurally funded and AI/data science-directed research that both complements and uniquely enhances existing programs within the school and WSU. Candidates should have established a national reputation for research excellence
Required Qualifications For All Candidate Ranks:
B.S. in chemical engineering prior to the start of the appointment.
Ph.D. in chemical engineering or a related engineering degree prior to the start of the appointment.
Ability to teach core chemical engineering classes and commit to services and collaborate with a variety of internal and external groups.
Demonstrated record of scholarly work.
Preferred Qualifications for Assistant Professor:
Experience serving as a teaching assistant in Chemical Engineering courses and whose research combines (AI)-driven automation laboratories and/or data science with experimental work.
Preferred Qualifications for Associate Professor:
Experience serving as an instructor for Chemical Engineering courses and whose research combines (AI)-driven automation laboratories and/or data science with experimental work.
