Assistant Varsity Girls Basketball Coach

Durham Academy is accepting applications for part-time varsity assistant girls basketball coach. The season runs from late October through mid- February.

Job Responsibilities:

• Assist with tryouts and team selection in consultation with the V Head Coach and the Varsity coaching staff

• Help plan and execute effective practices

• Assist Head Coach with game strategy

• Drive a minibus to all road games

• Collaborate with all coaches in the girls basketball program and DA Athletics trainers staff administration and faculty

Candidates should expect a regular weekday commitment of 90 minute practices with two-three games per week. This position reports to both the Varsity Girls Basketball Head Coach and the Director of Athletics.

The ideal candidate will have the following characteristics:

• Experience playing or coaching basketball at the interscholastic or collegiate level.

• A commitment to providing a safe healthy joyful environment for practice and play

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• An ability and eagerness to maintain positive collaborative working relationships with all members of the school community (student-athletes families alumni teachers administrators and fellow coaches)

• The ability to lead student-athletes with competitive energy and formative care
