Job Summary
Job Description:
Under the direction of the Superintendent of Transportation or designee the Superintendent of Transportation assists in all aspects of the Transportation Section including but not limited to: vacation holiday and run picks; passenger services issues; Intelligent Bus System; work schedules; inputting operators work in the driver pay system; daily service; commendations; labor relations; and monitoring and enforcing Pace rules policies and procedures. Essential functions include:
- Preparing and conducting annual performance reviews of Transportation Section employees.
- Preparing documentation for issuance and handling of discipline.
- Monitoring absenteeism program and prepares daily operation reports including payroll exception tickets.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Age:
Must be 21 years of age or older.
Education:
Must have at minimum a high school diploma or equivalency. An associate degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
Experience:
Must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in transit operations (or equivalent) with a working knowledge of safety training and customer relations. Labor relations experience is preferred. Must have a good work record.
Certifications:
Must possess a valid Illinois drivers license (Commercial Drivers License Class B with an air brake endorsement is preferred with a good driving record and must possess DOT certification.
Proficiencies:
Must demonstrate intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook Excel and PowerPoint. An understanding of the Intelligent Bus System is preferred.
Must possess strong transportation planning math analytical problem solving and decision-making skills as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills; and must be able to maintain confidentiality.
Physical Requirements:
This role requires sitting for extended periods working on a computer and attending meetings. Sometimes this role requires standing for extended periods; Be able to lift objects weighing up to 10lbs.
Working Conditions:
Work is mainly performed in an office environment however work in a garage environment and outside at the fueling station is also required. Must be available to work 24 hours a day 7 days a week 365 days per year. This position is not eligible for a hybrid work schedule or remote work. This is a safety-sensitive position.

Midpoint:$112915
Starting Salary Range:$70902 - $91908
