Position Purpose

The Assistant Starbucks Manager supports the Starbucks Manager in overseeing the daily operation of the Starbucks department. This position helps ensure exceptional customer service product quality food safety compliance and financial performance while assisting with associate development scheduling inventory management and execution of Starbucks brand standards.

Key Responsibilities Department Operations
  • Assist in managing the daily operations of the Starbucks department.
  • Ensure beverages and food products are prepared according to Starbucks recipes and quality standards.
  • Maintain a clean organized and well-stocked department.
  • Support inventory management ordering receiving and product rotation activities.
  • Monitor department conditions to ensure operational excellence and readiness throughout the day.
Customer Service
  • Deliver outstanding customer service and create a welcoming environment.
  • Assist customers with beverage selections product knowledge and special requests.
  • Address customer concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Promote a culture focused on customer satisfaction and repeat business.
  • Ensure every customer receives a positive and consistent Starbucks experience.
Team Leadership
  • Assist with recruiting training onboarding and developing department associates.
  • Provide coaching and ongoing performance feedback.
  • Support scheduling and labor planning efforts.
  • Promote teamwork accountability and a positive work environment.
  • Direct department operations and supervise associates in the managers absence.
Sales and Financial Performance
  • Support achievement of department sales labor and profitability goals.
  • Monitor productivity and identify opportunities to improve performance.
  • Assist with merchandising promotional activities and seasonal programs.
  • Help manage inventory levels to minimize waste and out-of-stock conditions.
  • Support initiatives that drive sales growth and customer engagement.
Food Safety and Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with Starbucks standards food safety requirements and company policies.
  • Maintain sanitation standards and proper food handling procedures.
  • Monitor product freshness quality and expiration dates.
  • Ensure accurate pricing signage and product labeling.
  • Promote a safe environment for customers and associates.
Qualifications Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous retail food service or customer service experience.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including evenings weekends and holidays.
Preferred
  • Previous supervisory or lead experience.
  • Starbucks coffee shop or food service management experience.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
  • Experience with inventory management and labor planning.

  • Work in varying temperature conditions including refrigerated storage areas.

  • Exposure to hot beverages food preparation equipment and cleaning supplies.
