Role Overview

The Assistant Project Manager supports the planning execution and oversight of commercial mechanical construction projects helping ensure delivery meets high standards of quality and aligns with customer expectations. This role works closely with the Project Manager to monitor budgets schedules and specifications while coordinating with general contractors owners vendors and subcontractors throughout the project lifecycle.

This role blends office-based project administration with regular jobsite visits to support pre-job and post-construction planning coordination meetings and progress tracking across active construction projects in the Fort Worth market.

Core Responsibilities

  • Assist the Project Manager in ensuring construction work aligns with design specifications budget and schedule.
  • Review project plans and specifications and help build and maintain project schedules.
  • Recommend cost-saving measures throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Complete job cost breakdowns and schedules of values and review and approve subcontractor and vendor billings.
  • Coordinate with general contractors owners vendors and subcontractors on schedules RFIs and change orders.
  • Order mechanical and plumbing materials to support project timelines.
  • Attend pre-construction and post-construction meetings to support project planning and closeout.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously balancing competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Communicate regularly with office personnel general contractors and owners to keep projects aligned.
  • Complete project documentation accurately and on time using company systems.
  • Maintain strong customer relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Monitor jobsite safety and help ensure adherence to safety standards modeling best safety practices at all times.
  • Serve as a direct point of contact for customers representing the company professionally at all times.
  • Represent the company at networking and marketing events as needed.

Required Background

  • Bachelors degree in Construction Management Mechanical Engineering or a related field or a minimum of 2 years of experience on commercial mechanical (HVAC) or plumbing projects
  • Experience in education healthcare industrial data center government or office markets is a plus with healthcare project experience especially valued
  • Experience with project reviews cost-to-complete meetings financials and project close-outs
  • Demonstrated construction aptitude and ability to read plans and specifications
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including CRM software
  • Proficient with Procore Plangrid Fluix Primavera AutoCAD Revit Bluebeam (or similar) and AdobePro
  • Ability to pass required background drug and motor vehicle record screening
  • BIM experience is a plus
