Assistant Professor of Global Security Studies

Position Summary
The Department of International Studies at Indiana Universitys Hamilton Lugar School of Global and International Studies invites applications for an assistant professor tenure-track faculty position in Security Studies beginning August 1 2027. We seek a scholar whose research and teaching focus on security studies. Areas of interest include but are not limited to grand strategy the causes of war nonproliferation and how new technologies may affect international security and geopolitics. Scholars with regional expertise within security studies are welcome to apply as well. The successful candidate will contribute to the departments strengths in international and global studies and a growing focus on security studies across IU-Bloomington. The candidates teaching will support existing undergraduate and graduate programs including the growing Master of International Affairs ( MIA ) program. We welcome applications from candidates employing diverse disciplinary and methodological approaches. Candidates should demonstrate a strong research agenda evidence of or potential for excellence in teaching and a commitment to interdisciplinary engagement within an international studies environment. Responsibilities include maintaining an active research program teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in areas related to global security studies mentoring students and contributing to departmental and university service. Applicants must have a doctoral degree in hand by August 1 2027.
