Assistant Electrical Designer

Our client is seeking an experienced Assistant Electrical Designer to join their growing telecommunications design team in Kansas City MO. This is an exciting contract-to-hire opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of telecommunications infrastructure projects supporting a variety of clients and industries.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Revit and AutoCAD a strong understanding of telecommunications design principles and the ability to contribute to project planning design development BIM coordination and construction documentation efforts. This is not an entry-level position; candidates should possess demonstrated design experience and the ability to work independently on project assignments with limited oversight.

• Assist in various phases of project planning site evaluations analytical design report preparation and construction documentation.
• Design and model telecommunications systems including:
  • Physical pathway infrastructure (inside and outside plant)
  • Equipment room layouts
  • Structured cabling systems
  • Telecommunications spaces and pathways
• Develop and manage 3D Revit models for telecommunications projects.
• Lead the setup of telecommunications Revit models in accordance with project requirements and company standards.
• Prepare engineering drawings from sketches markups verbal instructions and design information using Revit and other CAD software.
• Create initial designs sketches and drawing markups for ongoing projects.
• Apply applicable design codes standards and project specifications.
• Perform calculations problem analysis and component sizing for telecommunications systems.
• Coordinate telecommunications BIM models with other engineering disciplines and project BIM coordinators.
• Maintain telecommunications model health data integrity and quality standards.
• Organize and maintain project drawings revisions and project documentation.
• Complete assigned project tasks within established budgets and schedules.
• Collaborate with project managers engineers designers and other team members to resolve design issues and meet project objectives.
• Follow all company client and project design and drafting standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Candidates must meet one of the following requirements:

• Bachelors Degree in Drafting Technology or a related field with a minimum of 2 years of related experience; OR
• Associate Degree with a minimum of 3 years of related experience; OR
• High School Diploma with a minimum of 4 years of progressive design and detailing experience.

Note: This position requires an experienced Assistant Designer. Entry-level candidates and detailers without design experience will not be considered.

• Strong proficiency with Revit AutoCAD and Microsoft Excel.
• Experience developing engineering design deliverables using 2D and 3D design applications.
• Autodesk Revit experience strongly preferred.
• Working knowledge of telecommunications systems infrastructure and design practices.
• Ability to prepare and modify engineering drawings with limited supervision.
• Understanding of engineering design principles and coordination across multiple disciplines.
• Ability to learn and effectively utilize new software programs and design technologies.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
• High attention to detail and commitment to producing quality deliverables.
