Assistant Basketball Coach

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Athletic Coach instructs and works with athletes to prepare them for games and competitions.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assists with preparing and conducting individual and team practices pieces of training and competitions.

• Teach and instruct all aspects of the game

• Promote sportsmanship and foster good character in student-athletes

• Works with other Athletic Coaches in general and specific coaching procedures methods and techniques.

• Provides technical support and training to athletes as appropriate to the sport.

  • Assign specific positions and come up with drills and organized game strategies.

• Supervise students in practice areas locker rooms and on buses

• Encourage student participation and establish rapport

• Maintain equipment and uniforms

• Explain and enforce safety rules and regulations

SECONDARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Other duties as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or equivalent required

• Experience in coaching specific sports is preferred

SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Experience in coaching basketball.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

• Fields

• Traveling with team to other locations for games/tournaments

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Prolonged standing/ sitting

• Stooping and/or kneeling
