Assistant Bakery Manager

The Assistant Bakery Manager supports the Bakery Manager in leading all aspects of Bakery Department operations including production merchandising inventory management customer service food safety compliance associate development and financial performance. This position helps ensure the department consistently delivers high-quality bakery products maintains attractive displays achieves operational goals and provides an exceptional customer experience while supporting sales growth and profitability.

• Assist in managing daily Bakery Department operations.
• Ensure bakery products are prepared packaged labeled and merchandised according to company standards.
• Monitor product quality freshness and availability throughout the day.
• Support production planning to meet customer demand while minimizing waste.
• Assist with ordering receiving and inventory control procedures.
• Help execute promotional programs seasonal displays and merchandising initiatives.

• Deliver exceptional customer service and promote a customer-first culture.
• Assist customers with product selection custom cake orders and special requests.
• Provide product knowledge and recommendations to enhance the shopping experience.
• Resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally.
• Support initiatives designed to increase customer satisfaction and department sales.

• Assist with training coaching and developing Bakery associates.
• Provide daily direction and support to department team members.
• Promote teamwork accountability and operational excellence.
• Reinforce company policies procedures and performance expectations.
• Assume department leadership responsibilities in the absence of the Bakery Manager.

• Ensure bakery displays are fully stocked visually appealing and maintained according to company standards.
• Monitor inventory levels and identify replenishment needs.
• Assist with managing shrink through proper production planning rotation and inventory practices.
• Verify pricing signage and merchandising standards are executed accurately.
• Support product presentation initiatives that drive sales and customer engagement.

• Ensure compliance with food safety sanitation health and regulatory standards.
• Monitor proper handling storage labeling dating and rotation of bakery products.
• Maintain clean organized and safe work areas.
• Promote safe work practices and proper use of bakery equipment.
• Support departmental audit readiness and inspection compliance.

• Assist in achieving department sales gross profit labor and shrink goals.
• Monitor operational performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Support efficient labor utilization and productivity initiatives.
• Assist with inventory management practices that contribute to profitability.
• Contribute to department success through strong operational execution and accountability.

• Previous bakery food service grocery retail or supervisory experience preferred.
• Knowledge of bakery production merchandising and food safety standards preferred.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to lead motivate and develop associates.
• Strong organizational problem-solving and time management abilities.
• Basic computer inventory management and operational knowledge.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

• Frequent standing walking bending reaching pushing pulling and lifting.
• Ability to lift and move products consistent with department requirements.
• Ability to work around bakery equipment and varying temperature conditions.
