Job Summary

We are seeking an Asset Tagging / Field Technician to support asset identification documentation and tracking at natural gas facilities. The primary responsibility of this position will be to install and verify asset tags on equipment and components at compressor stations receipt points and delivery points.

This is a field-based position requiring approximately 50%70% travel including overnight and extended stays of one to two weeks at a time followed by approximately one week in the office. Travel will be within the companys operating footprint including Minnesota South Dakota Wisconsin Michigan Iowa Illinois Nebraska Kansas Oklahoma New Mexico and Texas.

The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail excellent organizational skills and an interest in working with field equipment technical documentation drawings and asset management systems. Experience with P&IDs AutoCAD drafting or natural gas facilities is preferred but not required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install and maintain asset identification tags on equipment and components at natural gas compressor stations receipt points and delivery points.

  • Verify equipment information and ensure accurate and consistent asset labeling in accordance with company standards.

  • Conduct field research to collect equipment and asset information and support accurate documentation.

  • Create and update technical drawings and asset documentation based on field observations and research.

  • Review and interpret Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) to assist with accurate asset identification and tag placement.

  • Support the use and implementation of AutoCAD for asset management drawings and documentation.

  • Collaborate with asset management personnel to maintain accurate and up-to-date asset records.

  • Coordinate with field technicians facility personnel engineers and other stakeholders to gather required equipment information.

  • Document field findings and communicate discrepancies missing information or equipment changes to the appropriate team.

  • Assist with identifying and resolving asset data or labeling inconsistencies.

  • Follow all applicable company safety procedures facility access requirements and travel policies.

  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives designed to improve asset tracking identification and documentation.

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate information.

  • Ability to work independently in field environments as well as collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

  • Strong organizational communication and time-management skills.

  • Ability to read and follow technical instructions and documentation.

  • Ability to use basic computer applications and maintain accurate records.

  • Valid drivers license and ability to travel extensively for work.

  • Willingness to work extended travel assignments including overnight stays and one- to two-week travel periods.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in asset management field data collection drafting engineering support or a related technical environment.

  • Experience working in the natural gas oil & gas energy utilities or pipeline industry.

  • Familiarity with Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).

  • Experience with AutoCAD or other CAD/drafting software.

  • Experience with equipment tagging asset identification field inspections or technical documentation.

  • Technical training certifications or associate-level education in drafting engineering technology or a related discipline.

Travel Requirements
  • Approximately 50%70% travel is required.

  • Travel will include one- to two-week field assignments followed by approximately one week in the office.

Work Environment

This position requires regular work at natural gas facilities including compressor stations receipt points and delivery points. The employee must be comfortable working in field environments following facility safety requirements and coordinating with technicians and other site personnel.
