Job Summary
The Area Optimizer is responsible for maximizing gas production and well performance within an assigned production area. The role identifies underperforming wells analyzes pressure and production data and addresses mechanical or operational issues that impact productivity. Working closely with Foremen Production Engineers and other stakeholders the Area Optimizer develops and implements strategies to improve efficiency reduce downtime and increase throughput. This position also focuses on cost-effective operations and maintaining the long-term value and performance of each well.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Monitor real-time and historical production data to ensure optimal well performance.
- Identify underperforming wells and pressure irregularities; recommend and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure accurate and timely production volume and well downtime reporting.
- Perform diagnostic tasks such as shooting fluid levels and coordinating well test activities.
- Partner with Production Engineers to maintain accurate and current production records.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve gas recovery while minimizing downtime and costs.
- Assist in deploying and maintaining AI tools and optimization software; stay current on best practices and new technologies.
- Use data models and simulations to analyze performance trends and pinpoint operational bottlenecks.
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and recommend process improvements to meet production forecasts.
- Monitor document and maintain accurate records of downtime events.
- Coordinate with third-party well testers as needed.
- Implement digital monitoring tools and automation to improve operational efficiency.
- Provide optimization support across multiple areas as needed; flexibility in travel is required.
- Collaborate with the Optimization Coordinators and Foreman to align production strategies and drive shared ownership of optimization efforts.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Foreman or leadership.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain and operate company-owned and rented vehicles.
- Comply with and actively support QB Energys safety and environmental policies.
- Read and interpret technical documents data systems and software related to well performance and production.
- Must be capable of managing workload independently and making sound decisions that maintain safety integrity and production goals.
Qualifications
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of oil and gas production experience including well operations and optimization
Specialized Knowledge
- Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of gas surface production equipment and automation systems
- Familiarity with artificial lift systems (plungers downhole tools programmable controllers)
- Understanding of compressor operations and functionality
- Proficiency in optimization and process improvement techniques
Software & Tools:
- SCADA and RTU systems (e.g. Cygnet)
- Analytics platforms (e.g. Power BI Spotfire)
- Production software (e.g. Rocklink Ferguson TotalFlow ProdView WellView PCS Ferguson)
- Microsoft Office Suite
Skills & Abilities

Licenses/ Certifications:
- Valid drivers license with motor vehicle records acceptable by QB Energys insurance carrier.
Compensation
The base compensation for this role in this location is targeted between $32 and $42 hourly. Final offer amounts and job level are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise and may vary from the range listed above.

Work Conditions
Location: Parachute CO. Candidates outside daily commuting distance may be considered but must be available at the work location.
Work Environment: Full-time field role requiring flexibility for weekends nights holidays and callouts. Must be able to work and drive in all-weather conditions including extreme temperatures wind snow and rain. Some overtime is required. Must be physically able to safely handle job-related tools. Subject to federally mandated drug and alcohol testing.
Physical Demands: Requires visual acuity for driving and extended computer use. Involves walking standing climbing balancing stooping kneeling crouching reaching and crawling at work sites. Must be able to lift carry push or pull up to 50 lbs.
