Arabic   Linguist

• Translateinterpretand analyze oral and written material such as classified reports databriefingsand conversations. Provide translation in written and/or oral form.

• Provide assessments transcription translation interpretation cultural advisement and media analysis services to ensure actionable data and products are developed and processed quickly and accurately.

• Provide written translations of source texts in one language into another language asidentifiedabove with the meaning and intent of the original text (Translations).

• Translator will:

• read andcomprehendthe languages

• write comprehensibly in one of the source languages

• choose the equivalent expression in the Source language that both fully conveys and best matches the meaning intended in the source language (referred to as congruity judgment)

• As an Interpreter have a command ofboth of the languages(Arabic/English).

• Must be able to:

• comprehendboth the source language andEnglishas spoken and written

• speakboth of theselanguages

• choose an expression in English that fully conveys and best matches the meaning of the source language

• have familiarity with the cultural context of both languages

• have knowledge of terminology in specialized fields

• research in source (Native) languages and write a comprehensive command level information paper

• Linguists maybe requiredto complete an annual evaluation and retesting process todetermineeligibility forpossible extensionof services.

Required Qualifications:

• Current/Active Public trust clearance USCitizenship.

• Mustpossessa minimum of aBachelors degree in Political Science International Studies Anthropology Communication or a related field from an accredited and reputable institution and 8 years of relevant experience. Anadditional4years experiencewill be considered in lieu of degree.

• Must have a minimum of 5 years prior experience working in support of U.S. Armed Forces or U.S. government agencies.

• Must have a minimum of 3/3/3 scores or higher in testing scores both in English andModern StandardArabicwithin the last 5 years.

• Must be able todemonstratethe following abilities:

• Objective Unbiased & Logical cultural advisement.

• Must be able to follow orderly and sequential systematic procedures and guidelines.

• Provide foreign language interpretation translation transliteration & transcription document exploitation (DOCEX) services

• Provide written and verbal translation ofvarious typesof media from target language to source language whilemaintainingcongruity in judgment.

• Mustpossessexcellent listening skills with ability to pay attention to minute details.

• Must be comfortable providing presentations and working with small and large groups.

• In depth cultural understanding of customs symbolism mannerisms traditions of various ethnic groupsresidingthroughout the CENTCOM AOR

• Demonstrated capability to work with Microsoft Office applications i.e. Word Excel PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with Information Operations/PSYOP/MISO units in Middle East/SWA Area of Operations.Or experience working with U.S. Special Operations Forces orotherMilitary forces in the Middle East
• Language ability in another required language; DARI PASHTO orFARSIat the same levels.
