Job Summary
The Anesthesia Technician I
- Provides direct patient care and clinical assistance to anesthesia care providers in the acquisition preparation application and use of monitors equipment and supplies required for the administration of anesthesia in various settings. Performs general cleaning and decontamination of supplies and equipment.
- Performs Decontamination and advanced sterilization processes (steam flash steriad).
- Provides direct assistance to Physicians Physician Assistants Anesthesiologists Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) and RNs in the delivery of care to patients across the age spectrum (i.e. patient transport equipment supplies room preparation specimens and medications).
- Maintains accurate documentation as relates to activities responsible for documentation of lot numbers for all sterilized items for tracking and recall purposes.
- Assists Anesthesia Providers by preparing patients positioning induction anesthesia delivery including blocks and emergence.
- Maintains designated supply levels.
Education: High School diploma / GED. Prefer candidates with certified nursing assistant medical assistant emergency medical technician or other healthcare education.
Experience: 1 year direct patient healthcare experience and completion of Carilion Anesthesia Tech I competencies required.
Licensure Certification and/or Registration: None required. Life Support: Must successfully complete AHA BLS-HCP within 2 months of hire and maintain throughout employment.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Effective interpersonal critical thinking skills communication and team working skills required. Must meet all level I competencies within 6 weeks of hire/start. Must be able to fulfill fundamental components/essential elements of position. Basic computer skills. Ethical and legal issues and responsibilities. Biologic hazards infection control and standard precautions. Assists the licensed anesthesia provider and other ORS staff with direct patient care in clinical settings. Communicates with physicians nurse anesthetists RNs and other departmental staff written and orally in an effective respective manner. Providing peri-operative technical support to the anesthesia professional and other departmental staff staff in the delivery of patient care. Demonstrates knowledge of principles of growth and development and anatomy and physiology as it applies to anesthesia care. Compensation Range:
$18.70 - $26.18Employee pay is based on a variety of factors including qualifications credentials education and prior work experience. The compensation range does not include benefits or pension plan.
