The Department of Natural Resources Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveysis recruiting for a Job Titlein Anchorage.

What You Will Be Doing:

This position primarily supports the Geologic Material Centers nascent hyperspectral scanning program by developing tools for data delivery processing and distribution. Duties include but are not limited to;

Mission and Values/Culture:

The division-wide mission of DGGS is to determine the potential of Alaska land for the production of metals minerals fuels and geothermal resources the locations and supplies of groundwater and construction materials and the potential geologic hazards to buildings roads bridges and other installations and structures (AS 41.08.020). The Geologic Information Center (GIC) provides publications geographic information systems (GIS) and information technology (IT) support services that enable access to geologic information related to Alaskas vast resources and support for geologic hazard response.

The Working Environment You Can Expect:

This position is located at the Alaska Geologic Materials Center (3651 Penland Parkway) in Anchorage Alaska. The environment is open and collegial enabling collaboration and coordination across the entire DGGS staff. Work schedules are flexible and are a standard 37.5-hour workweek.

Analyst/Programmer 2 starting salary $2296.50

One year of computer programming experience in a recognized computer language. One year of the experience must have been in a business application scientific application microcomputer or computer system user support specialty.

Substitution:

A bachelors degree with a major in Computer Science (CS) or Computer Information Systems (CIS) or a related degree with (18) semester/(24) quarter hours of CS or CIS may substitute for all of the required experience. An associates degree in computer science or computer information systems may substitute for nine months of the required experience.

Analyst/Programmer 3 starting salary $2646.00

Two years of computer programming experience in a recognized computer language. One year of this experience must have been in a business application scientific application microcomputer or computer information management support specialty.

Special Note (all job class levels):

An applicant who is considered under the Substitution above qualifies to apply for this job class IF the applicable coursework is completed within three (3) months of hire. Classification Study Notice

This position is currently under review as part of the Information Technology job class study; therefore both the title and the assigned pay range may be subject to change upon completion of the study.

Flexible Staffing

This position is flexibly staffed. The level of the job offer will be based on the selected candidates eligibility. If hired at the lower level you will be promoted to the higher-level job class after completing the training plan and meeting the minimum qualifications.
