Role: AI Forward Deployment Engineer

Location: Remote Position

Job Description:

• Must be a forward deployed engineer - we need someone who can Someone who can take ownership of existing initiatives develop solutions and help get projects across the finish line
• Needs to understand architecture sustainability scalability and AI-enablement
• MCP ((Model Context Protocol) related and Data Integration work is required
• Very strong Databricks Experience

Forward Deployed Engineer (Highest Immediate Need)

What they want:

• Someone who can take ownership of existing initiatives develop solutions and help get projects across the finish line.
• Strong Databricks / application development mindset.
• Doesnt necessarily need to be a pure Data Engineer but should understand architecture sustainability scalability and AI-enablement.

Initial focus areas:

• Outage Tool enhancements and scaling.
• Additional Databricks applications.
• MCP-related development and integration efforts.
• Ensure solutions are sustainable beyond the current team.

Desired outcome:

• Deliver quick wins before year-end.
• Act as an extension of their team.
• Establish foundations and architecture that support future AI initiatives.

MCP Evaluation & Best Practices

What they want:

• Review their MCP strategy and architecture.
• Validate design governance connectivity answer quality and overall approach.
• Leverage industry best practices and lessons learned from similar implementations.

Desired outcome:

• Independent assessment of MCP direction.
• Recommendations for best practices.
• Scalable framework for future AI-enabled solutions.

AI Strategy & Roadmap

What they want:

• Strategic roadmap for AI across Southern Power.
• Guidance on where platforms like Databricks should and should not be used.
• Recommendations around AI architecture governance business logic and knowledge management.
• Current challenge: Information is spread across Oracle SQL databases Denodo Maximo PI SCADA PDFs SharePoint and shared drives. They want trusted consistent AI answers regardless of whether users interact through M365 Copilot GitHub Copilot Genie or future AI tools.
