Compensation Amount: $15.50-16.50/hour
Position Summary: Co-Curricular Program Assistants facilitate activities and supervise students in the after-school program under the supervision of a Lead Teacher or other qualifying staff member. This is a wonderful opportunity for aspiring educators or for those who love working with children. This is a part-time seasonal non-exempt non-benefited position. After-school programs are open Monday-Friday from school dismissal until 6:00 p.m. (earlier start on early release days). Approximately 15-20 hours per week.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise up to 20 students in a classroom setting under the supervision of a qualified staff member per AZDHS.
- Facilitate homework recess and other activities.
- Present lessons from provided classical curriculum.
- Utilize appropriate child guidance and classroom management strategies.
- Model and instill Great Hearts 9 Core Virtues (responsibility perseverance integrity honesty courage citizenship humility friendship wisdom).
- Follow standard operating procedures to ensure high quality programs.
- Follow all licensing rules and regulations per AZDHS.
- Follow protocols for responding to and documenting student behavior and significant events.
- Escalate incident reports and significant events to supervisor.
- Substitute at another campus when needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required/Preferred Education: Some experience or college preferred but not be at least 17 years of age and have a high school diploma/equivalent or currently enrolled in high school/ aid/CPR certification preferred but not required.
Required/Preferred Skills:The successful candidate will be a principled professional leader with an independent work ethic and a heart of service to must demonstrate sound business judgment and wisdom in dealing with possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Physical Functions: Requires but is not limited to standing sitting repetitious hand and body movements bending squatting and reaching. Running jumping and other rapid movements may also be required. May be required to move or position equipment up to 15 pounds approximately.
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal history background check and fingerprint clearance in accordance with state requirements.
Travel required: May need to travel locally for training and professional development opportunities.
