- ALTEN Technology is excited to announce an opening for a Ground Test Manufacturing Engineer.
- This role offers a unique opportunity to work in a specialized field within engine design and operations.
- Ground Test Division designs manufactures and services test equipment to support development and aftermarket engine programs for all three major engine manufacturers.
- This work involves design and manufacture of final level assemblies and all subcomponents and details.
- As a Ground Test Manufacturing Engineer you will be responsible for developing manufacturing processes and tooling design for composite parts fabrication using approved models and drawings.
- You will support production activities troubleshoot issues and implement process improvements to ensure efficient and high-quality manufacturing for the three to six month build schedules.
- You may be tasked with evaluating any damage from normal operations by our customers and developing repairs to restore the assembly or components to original or acceptable requirements.
- Create written and illustrated manufacturinginstructions bills of material and outside purchase specifications per engineering drawings/specifications.
- Develop and improve manufacturing processes and tooling for composite parts
- Work with production teams to ensure manufacturability and suggest improvements.
- Train production staffinnew processes and techniques.
- Providingmanufacturing support todesign throughout conceptual preliminaryanddetailed design phasesto includevalidationcustomer approval manufacturing and operational service.
- Support design withmaterialselectionbased onusability and compatibility with current processes and equipment.
- Reviewanddispositionnonconforming materialto technicalrequirements.
- Developandvalidaterepairprocessesin conjunction withdesignteam.
- Contribute to Cost ofPoorQualityefforts challenge existing processes and drive improvements.
- Ensure compliance with established engineering methodologies
- Usesound engineeringjudgment technical expertise and data analysisto make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems.
- AScience Technology Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum10years prior relevant experience
- AScience Technology Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)Advanced Degree in a related fieldand minimum8years experience
- Effective problem identification and solution skills
- Strong project ownership execution and proactive mentalities
- Experience with mechanicalmanufacturing processes(machining joints fasteners welding) in relevant industry positions (aerospace defense automotive or similar)
- Experience with GD&Tand print interpretation.
- Experience with fiber-reinforced polymer composites specifically: fiberglass aramid and/or carbon prepreg and wet layup (especially epoxy resin systems)
- Experience in advanced Composite and Bonded Structuresmanufacturing(ie. Fiber ReinforcementCuring Ovens and Autoclaves Adhesives Surface Preparationetc.)
- Computer Aided DesignSoftware experience: Creo / Windchill (Preferred) orNX/FiberSIM/TeamCenter
- Familiarity with Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) techniques such as ultrasonic testing eddy current FPI camera optics X-ray and othersused in aerospace.
- Experience with design for manufacturing & assembly
- Understanding of manufacturing cost and reproducibility
- Experience withimplementation of PFMEAs
