Job Title: Adjunct Instructor of Computer Information Systems
Reporting Structure: The Department of Natural Sciences in the College of Science Engineering and Mathematics
Division: Department of Computer Science and Engineering
Duties/Responsibilities:
Successful candidates will be expected to teach at the undergraduate level establish and sustain an outstanding research program and be involved in proposal and grant writing activities.
Preferred candidates for the position must hold an MS or PhD degree in Computer Information Systems. Desired areas of interest are artificial intelligence machine learning and mobile applications development.
Faculty members should expect to be involved in department activities student advisement student recruitment and mentoring students.
Education and Experience:
BS in Computer Science Computer Information Systems or closely related field and extensive related work experience or professional certifications (full Stack CompTIA CCNA etc.). Degree must be from a regionally accredited institution.
Applicants should have a strong commitment to teaching at a liberal arts school. Evidence of successful teaching at the college level is required.
The candidate must be prepared to affirm and support the Christian and liberal arts mission of Bethune- Cookman University.
U.S. citizenship or permanent residency is required.
Preferred Skills Experience and Education:
MS or PhD in Computer Information Systems. Preference will be given to applicants with areas of specialization that complement existing faculty.
A record of research and publication is desirable.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while teaching classes.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students faculty and staff in person and through electronic communication.
  • Ability to use a computer keyboard projector and other instructional technology for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to move throughout classrooms offices and campus facilities.
  • Ability to lift and carry instructional materials books or equipment weighing up to 20 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office equipment including computers printers and audiovisual equipment.
  • Visual acuity sufficient to read printed materials computer screens and classroom presentations.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation in accordance with applicable federal and state laws.
