POSITION TITLE: Adjunct Faculty - Veterinary Health Care
DEPARTMENT: School of Science Technology Engineering & Mathematics (STEM)
PRIMARY LOCATION: Fall River
REPORTS TO: Dean of Science Technology Engineering & Math (STEM)
POSITION STATUS:MCCC/DCE unit position non-benefitted. Adjunct Faculty are part-time instructors hiredon an as needed basis. Coursesmay be offered in online hybrid or face-to-face modalities in Attleboro Fall River New Bedford and/or Taunton. Courses may be held during the day in the evening and on weekends (Friday nights Saturdays and Sundays). Please note: Positions will be available pending sufficient enrollment.
STARTING DATE:Academic Year 2026-2027
SALARY:Minimum salary is $1446per credit hour. Actual salary is commensurate with the DCE Collective Bargaining Agreement.

DCE Adjuncts and Part-Time Members ()

STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Adjunct Faculty - Veterinary Health Care will be responsible for but not limited to teaching and developing curriculum/course material for Veterinary Health Care courses and offering student support through varied interaction. A list of potential courses can be found online in the Course Catalog but may include disciplines such as but not limited to: Animal Care & Management Animal Behavior Veterinary Medical Terminology Veterinary Pharmacology Veterinary Office Management or Zoonosis. As part of our strategic goal to advance equity for underrepresented student populations Bristol embraces and encourages the use of social justice inclusive and anti-racist pedagogies and multicultural curricular initiatives. Adjunct Faculty will engage in a critical role in the teaching and learning process contributing to student learning outcomes and success.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Teach and as appropriate design Veterinary Health Care course material to meet learning outcomes and promote students active participation in their own learning.
• Assess student learning and assign grades through equitable and inclusive pedagogies and assessment strategies.
• Contribute to a climate of multicultural empowerment affirmation understanding and appreciation.
• Create an effective learning environment that fosters students intellectual curiosity and helps students to problem solve using discipline-specific thinking strategies and High Impact Practices.
• Employ a variety of formative and summative assessments to ensure that classroom instruction leads to student learning and the attainment of the student learning outcomes for the course.
• Help students reach their academic personal and professional goals and foster a safe environment that respects the diversity of people and ideas by modeling respect for all students and conveying confidence in every students ability to learn.
• Contribute to and provide leadership in the students academic communities promoting collaboration and teamwork.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to address the colleges goals related to technology academic innovation and equity.
• Complete required trainings such as but not limited to Title IX FERPA Bloodborne Pathogens and Information Security.
• Adhere to workload as specified in the Collective Bargaining Agreement to include duties such as but not limited to completing book orders creating syllabi verifying student enrollment and submitting final grades by the contractual deadline.
• Be available to students either virtually or in-person for assistance meeting course requirements and supporting student academic success.
• Be willing to teach in the Dual Enrollment program or Early College at the surrounding high schools.
• Foster student success across the colleges diverse student body.
• Demonstrate a sense of professionalism and consistently reflect Bristols core values while interacting with members of the Bristol community.
• Focus on the Commonwealths Equity Agenda by applying related best practices throughout all job functions.
• Perform other related duties as assigned consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

NOTE: Unless otherwise noted all required qualifications must be met by date of hire.

• Minimum of an Associate degree from an American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) accredited program with current credentialing as a veterinary technician; or minimum of a Bachelors degree in animal sciences zoology zoo and aquarium sciences veterinary technology or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience with college level teaching or as a facilitator in a corporate or non-profit environment.
• Demonstrated experience with one or more of the following groups of animals: exotics domestics agricultural and/or lab animals.
• Proven technological proficiency which may include Microsoft Office 365 applications.
• Prior online teaching experience using a Learning Management System.
• The ability to work effectively with a diverse student body faculty and staff.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Unique or specialty practice experience such as but not limited to: animal handling and restraint or animal nutrition.
• Experience using High Impact Practices.
• Experience teaching at a community college.
• Demonstrated proficiency with Canvas.
• Graduate of Bristols Adjunct Certificate Program.
• Ability to communicate in a language in addition to English.
