Job Description
The Department of Computer and Information Sciences at Winthrop University invites applications for a part-time adjunct faculty position to teach undergraduate courses in computing. The initial teaching assignment will be CSCI 101 Introduction to Computing. The successful candidate will introduce students to fundamental computing concepts applications and technologies while helping them develop practical computing skills. Additional teaching opportunities may be available based on departmental needs and the candidates qualifications.
Required Qualifications
Masters degree in Computer Science Information Technology Information Systems or a closely related field; or a masters degree with at least 18 graduate credit hours in an appropriate computing discipline; or significant professional experience in computing or information technology. Demonstrated knowledge of fundamental computing concepts and commonly used computing technologies. Effective written and oral communication skills. Ability to work effectively with students from diverse academic backgrounds and levels of computing experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous teaching experience at the college or university level. Experience teaching introductory computing or computer literacy courses. Experience using learning management systems and instructional technologies. Professional experience in computing information technology or a related field.
