Job Summary

ADA and Universal Access Program is exciting to open an opportunity for an ADA and Universal Access Training Specialist and Special Projects Manager. The ADA and Universal Access Program oversees Metros ADA Title II compliance and coordination leads ADA accessibility improvements across the department and provides technical assistance and subject matter expertise as required by all divisions. This position will work across Metro Divisions to understand the knowledge gaps regarding ADA Title II Disability Equity Universal Access and will research design and facilitate general and customized training and informational resources to improve overall understanding of the basics of the ADA and beyond. This position will play a key role in influencing Metro to prioritize accessibility and plan our transit system and services with new perspectives around universal accessibility and the impacts on Metros diverse ridership.
Position Information: This recruitment will be used to fill one (1) Career ADA Training Manager PPM III classification addition this selection process may be used to generate an eligibility pool for future Special Duty Assignment (SDA) Term Limited Temporary (TLT) and Career Service (CS) vacancies that may occur in this classification within this workgroup. The eligibility list will be retained for 12 months from the date of posting and may be used at the discretion of the hiring authority.

- Experience Qualifications Knowledge Skills
Candidates must meet the following minimum qualifications:
- At least 2 years of experience working in ADA Title II compliance
- Knowledge of the application of ADA Title II compliance in the built environment web accessibility (WCAG) and programs and services.
- Experience with the design and delivery of trainings on the application of policies civil rights ableism equity or related topics.
- At least 2 years of experience of independent management of projects
- Experience developing training for in-person delivery online delivery as well as web-based training materials and instructional resources
- Demonstrated experience in providing project support including tracking reporting and training elements.
- Experience working independently and as a part of a team in a fast-paced work environment with changing priorities.
- Ability to conduct public presentations and/or facilitation.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to manage and oversee multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to design learn and implement new systems and processes.
- 3 years of experience working in ADA Title II compliance
- Experience working in transit and/or highly unionized environments
- ADA Coordinator Certification (ADACC) or certification from the Accessibility Professionals Association the IAAP or other relevant organization promoting accessibility and ADA compliance
- Experience with creating project plans
- Experience with development of systems for tracking training compliance across a large organization
- Experience designing and delivering ADA compliance-based training or compliance-based training of other civil rights or government compliance training
- Experience with instructional design change management

Work Schedule: This position is exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is therefore not eligible for overtime pay. The work schedule is normally Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Work Location: This position follows a hybrid work schedule requiring a minimum of 2 days per week onsite at King Street Center 201 S. Jackson Seattle Washington 98104. consistent with King County Metros hybrid work policy. Remote workdays may be adjusted based on operational or business needs.
Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
King County has a robust collection of tools and resources to support working remotely. Employees will be provided with a County-issued laptop and must maintain a home workspace with an internet connection where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours.
