Internship Summary:

The Accounting Intern will gain hands-on experience working alongside experienced accounting professionals in a collaborative engineering consulting environment. Through mentorship training and real-world project involvement the intern will learn accounting fundamentals financial operations project accounting and business processes while contributing meaningful work that supports company projects and clients.

This internship provides exposure to accounts payable accounts receivable project accounting financial reporting and professional business operations helping students build practical skills that complement their academic studies.

Essential Functions of the Job:

Support the companys accounting infrastructure in Deltek VantagePoint and serving as support to project managers by performing the following tasks:

  • New project setup (POFs)
  • Perform project data updates including budget billing terms dates backlog and closure
  • Unit data entry: field mileage copy counts and survey equipment
  • Accounts Payable: vendor invoice entry W9 and certificate of insurance collection and coordination
  • Assist with accounts receivable activities including recording customer payments monitoring outstanding invoices and supporting collection efforts.
  • Entering expense reports and credit card transactions
  • Preparing finalizing and distributing project invoices
  • Prepare and update spreadsheets and reports for project managers and company leadership.
  • Records management
  • Monitor and assist with inquiries received through the accounting teams shared email inbox.
  • Assist with monthly and year-end accounting close out processes.
  • Review financial data for accuracy and identify discrepancies requiring correction.
  • Assist the administrative team as needed.

Preferred Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial recordkeeping.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications particularly Excel Outlook and Word.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally.
  • Willingness to learn new software and accounting processes.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Problem-solving mindset and willingness to ask questions when clarification is needed.
  • Dependability and ability to plan ahead for schedule adjustments and deadlines

Work Environment:

Stahly offers a collaborative team-oriented office environment where employees support one another and work together to meet project and client deadlines. The Accounting Intern will report directly to the Accounting Manager and work closely with accounting professionals Chief Financial Officer and project managers throughout the organization.



Requirements

Required Education and Experience:

Must possess a valid drivers license.

Currently pursuing an Associates or Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance Business Administration or a related field.

Physical Demands (if any):

The ability to lift up to twenty (20) pounds.
