Position Overview:
Grant and Compliance Context: A substantial portion of Elev8 Baltimores operations is supported through government and philanthropic grants requiring adherence to federal and state grant regulations restricted fund tracking detailed documentation and timely financial and programmatic reporting.
Elev8 Baltimore operates with a multi-million-dollar annual budget that is supported by a diverse mix of public funding and philanthropy including 40% federally funded revenue 35% from state and local government grants and contracts 20% from foundation and corporate grants and 5% from individual contributions and other sources. A substantial portion of Elev8s operations relies on government and philanthropic grants making compliance with federal and state regulations restricted fund tracking detailed documentation and timely financial and programmatic reporting essential. These funds are distributed across multiple program sites and initiatives each with distinct grant requirements reporting timelines and compliance obligations. Elev8 maintains complex restricted funding streams rigorous grant tracking and strong stewardship expectations from both public funders and private partners. This financial complexity demands disciplined accounting timely reporting and audit-ready documentation to support program growth and long-term sustainability.
Position Summary
Elev8 Baltimore is hiring an Accountant to play a key role in bringing finance operations fully in-house. As we transition from an external fiscal agent to an internal finance team this position will help strengthen monthly close processes maintain accurate and timely financial records and support grant and contract reporting across a growing portfolio of programs.

This is a hands-on role ideal for a finance professional who wants real ownership values clean systems and is excited to help build sustainable infrastructure inside a mission-driven organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain the general ledger with accurate coding by program grant and cost center.
  • Support monthly close activities including journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Assist with accounts payable accounts receivable and cash receipt tracking.
  • Support grant invoicing reimbursements and restricted fund monitoring.
  • Maintain organized audit-ready documentation and supporting schedules.
  • Assist with annual audit preparation and internal financial reporting.
  • Support documentation and knowledge transfer as finance operations move in-house.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field.
  • 5 years of accounting experience; nonprofit or grant accounting experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with month-end close reconciliations and financial documentation.
  • Proficiency with accounting systems (QuickBooks preferred) and strong Excel skills.
  • Detail-oriented organized and comfortable working in a growing evolving environment.
  • CPA or CPA-track a plus but not required.
Compensation and Benefits:
The position offers a salary range of $70000 to $85000 based on experience plus a comprehensive benefits package. Benefits include health insurance paid leave retirement plan contributions and professional development opportunities.
