2nd3rd Grade Exceptional Children (EC) Teacher

Uwharrie Charter Academy seeks a dedicated highly organized 2nd/3rd Grade Exceptional Children (EC) Teacher to join our elementary team. This position will support students in grades 2 and 3 through specially designed instruction collaboration with classroom teachers and individualized support based on student needs.

The teacher will maintain a caseload of fewer than 20 students allowing for meaningful relationships individualized instruction and thoughtful collaboration with students families and staff.

• Provide specially designed instruction to students with disabilities in accordance with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
• Develop implement monitor and maintain accurate IEPs and related documentation.
• Manage a caseload of fewer than 20 students while ensuring all services and compliance requirements are met.
• Collaborate closely with general education teachers to support inclusion and student success.
• Monitor student progress and use data to guide instruction and interventions.
• Participate in IEP meetings and communicate effectively with parents teachers administrators and related service providers.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure IEP timelines and documentation are completed appropriately.
• Provide accommodations and modifications as outlined in students IEPs.
• Build positive relationships with students and create a supportive structured learning environment.
• Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and needs.
• Work collaboratively as a member of the elementary instructional team.

Required:

• Current North Carolina Exceptional Children (EC) teaching certification.
• Experience developing and implementing IEPs.
• Strong understanding of special education laws procedures and compliance requirements.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple IEP timelines documentation requirements and student needs effectively.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred:

• Elementary EC teaching experience particularly with grades 23.
• Experience working in an inclusive classroom setting.
• Experience using student data to monitor progress and adjust instruction.
• Experience collaborating with general education teachers and support staff.

This individual will be able to build strong relationships with students while effectively managing IEP responsibilities communicating with families and collaborating with teachers.
