Position Summary
The 2nd Shift Digital Manager plans directs coordinates and administers Digital Department activities on second shift. This role is responsible for pre-press approvals equipment operation color management and the overall safety and performance of all 2nd shift employees.
Key Responsibilities
Production & Equipment Operations
  • Operate digital printers forklift material roll hoist banner sheeter and digital press throughout the shift.
  • Provide pre-press approvals to ensure quality color and content meet customer expectations prior to production.
  • Ensure proper operation of all equipment; identify and request maintenance as needed.
  • Apply color management skills including equipment profiling and color correction.
  • Troubleshoot issues across both computer files and equipment with strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Determine and maintain quality standards for all digital print jobs.
Workflow & Scheduling
  • Organize evaluate prioritize and distribute large workloads across multiple shifts and equipment.
  • Establish project completion priorities to meet established deadlines.
  • Perform and complete all other assigned work duties while meeting deadlines.
Team Leadership & Safety
  • Ensure the overall safety and wellbeing of all 2nd shift employees.
  • Maintain knowledge of all equipment and processes within the area of supervision.
  • Provide ongoing training and development of staff members.
  • Promote teamwork and cooperation among all department personnel.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings.
  • Adhere to and enforce all SOPs Safety and 6S requirements.
  • Communicate and ensure compliance with all KDM policies and procedures.
Administrative Responsibilities
  • Manage time and attendance for 2nd shift staff.
  • Complete quarterly performance evaluations.
  • Complete New Team Member Checklists and PPE forms.
  • Complete all other administrative tasks as required.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Quality: Pre-press approvals completed accurately; print quality meets customer expectations with minimal reprints or rework.
  • Safety: Zero OSHA recordable incidents on 2nd shift; safety meetings conducted on schedule.
  • Throughput: Workload distributed and completed across shifts within established deadlines.
  • Team Development: Quarterly reviews completed on time; staff trained and cross-trained across equipment.
Required Skills & Abilities
  • Strong color judgment skills with the ability to make adjustments on both computer and press.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator Adobe Photoshop and InDesign.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across both computer files and production equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic math skills.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED); specialized training or associate degree preferred.
  • 35 years of printing experience required.
  • Digital inkjet printing experience strongly preferred; a combination of digital screen and offset printing experience is acceptable.
Preferred
  • 57 years of progressive experience in a digital print or manufacturing environment.
  • Prior supervisory or shift lead experience.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position carries full supervisory responsibility for all 2nd shift Digital Department employees.

Physical Demands
  • Regularly required to stand for extended periods and move throughout the production facility.
  • May be required to lift and carry loads up to 50 pounds.
  • Tasks include reaching squatting bending kneeling and walking throughout the shift.
Work Environment
  • Fast-paced high-efficiency manufacturing environment with exposure to fumes hazardous chemicals heat and moving mechanical parts.
  • Noise level is typically moderate. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is provided where required.
  • This role splits time between the production floor and office/administrative tasks.
