Position Summary

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

• Lead small and large group activities by following the curriculum provided by Site Coordinator
• Follow Lead Teachers daily schedule
• Travel to multiple sites as needed depending where a substitute is needed
• Supervise and interact with children in a positive supportive manner
• Assist in maintaining a relaxed supportive atmosphere in the classroom
• Discipline children in accordance with Community Schools Staff Handbook
• Follow program health and safety procedures as stated in Staff Handbook
• Assist in maintaining classroom environment including daily set up and clean up
• Build positive relationships with families and co-workers
• Maintain classroom cleanliness and organization
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum one year experience working with school age children including three months supervised experience with a school age children

Substitutes will lead an academic/homework block enrichment block and free block between 2:35pm (1:45 Pre-K) and 5:30 or 1:00 (12:00 Pre-K) and 5:30 on early release day under the direction of the SiteDirector or AssistantSite Director The substitute may also assist a lead teacher or support students individually if needed.

• Mobility:Frequent walking standing and navigating stairs.
• Lifting/Strength:Ability to lift push pull or carry objects ranging from 10 to 30 lbs (e.g. books supplies equipment).
• Physical Dexterity:Bending crouching kneeling stooping and reaching to assist students.
• Stationary Tasks:Remaining in a stationary position (sitting/standing) for long periods.
