2027 Program Information

Duquesne Light Company offers summer internships that provide a hands-on meaningful employment opportunity in a supportive setting that cultivates learning and collaboration. Duquesne Lights internship program will provide you with a valuable experience and a solid start to your career in various disciplines.

  • Internships are full-time (40 hours/week) paid and run for 12 weeks (May-August).
  • Internships are located in Pittsburgh and follow DLHs Hybrid Work Model (described below).
  • Candidates must be full-time degree-seeking students enrolled in an accredited college or university and have completed their Sophomore year of studies.
  • Candidates must be in good academic standing.
  • Candidates must be willing to work the required schedule as defined in the job description.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability through studies employment or extracurricularactivities.
  • Aptitude for problem solving; strong communication skills.

As part of DLCs mission to safely power and empower our customers lives the Customer Service department is committed to fostering a customer-focused culture and delivering exceptional service.

As an intern supporting the Customer Affordability & Innovation team you will play a key role in preparing the organization for new customer service technologies AI-enabled knowledge management and evolving business processes. Responsibilities will include updating and standardizing knowledge base content to support Copilot and AI deployments documenting new and existing business processes and assisting with organizational change management efforts.

Interns will help maintain communication and training resources including Teams sites FAQs outage communications and customer-facing materials. They will also support a variety of strategic initiatives such as new product launches website enhancements rate case activities economic development tools field service technology implementation and distributed energy resource programs. This role offers hands-on experience in process improvement change management knowledge management communications and digital transformation within a large-scale technology modernization program.

Education/Experience:

Applicants must be currently enrolled in a BS or MS program in Business Administration Business Intelligence or other related field.

Skills/Abilities:

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products. Ability to work independently as well as in a team-oriented environment.

Hybrid Work:

All internships follow our hybrid work model with a minimum of two days working in the office and the remaining days working remotely. Interns must be in the immediate Pittsburgh area for the summer. Reporting location and frequency may be subject to change based on job role and department needs.

Other:
