Job Summary

Our Flight Engineering department is divided into three critical areas: Flight Software (FSW) Guidance Navigation & Control (GNC) and Modeling Simulation & Analysis (MSA). As an engineer intern youll have the opportunity to work alongside industry experts in one of these areas contributing to the development and testing of advanced autonomous systems.
WHAT YOULL DO
- Assist in the design and development of flight software algorithms GNC systems or simulation models.
- Participate in the integration and testing of software/hardware components in lab ground or flight tests.
- Analyze data collected from simulations and flight test events to inform system improvements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address engineering challenges and enhance system performance.
- Engage in creative problem-solving to advance our UAS and missile technologies.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be pursuing a bachelors or masters degree in Aerospace Engineering Computer Science Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Must be returning to school at the end of the internship to continue academic studies for at least one quarter or semester.
- Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export-controlled information or facilities; U.S. clearance eligibility may be required depending on program.
- Ability to complete an in-person 12-week internship in one of our offices in summer 2027.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- A strong foundation in software development (for FSW candidates) control theory (for GNC candidates) or analytical modeling (for MSA candidates).
- Keen interest in autonomous systems UAS and missile technology.
- Excellent communication teamwork and problem-solving skills.
- Hands-on experience with Design-Build-Fly teams robotics competition teams (such as FIRST or VEX) or collegiate rocketry groups.
- Credible demonstration of aerospace-related hobbies such as high-power rocketry experience/certification remotely piloted/semi-autonomous aircraft or software integration on target hardware such as Raspberry Pi Pixhawk CubePilot (such as Cube Orange) or custom microcontrollers using onboard IMU GNSS and Flight Simulation Software-in-the-Loop (SITL) or Hardware-in-the-Loop (HITL) simulation environments.
- Experience with open-source autopilot software suites like ArduPilot or PX4.
- Experience with integrating flight hardware components including servos/actuators IMUs magnetometers GNSS receivers and antennas and serial communication protocols (such as UART CAN I2C SPI) or radio telemetry links.
- Basic familiarity with electrical test equipment (such as multimeters or oscilloscopes) and post-flight data analysis using tools like Python or MATLAB.
US Hourly Range
$42 - $60 USD
The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience education and/or training critical skills and/or business considerations.
