Job Summary

POSITION OVERVIEW 

KIPP Indy is seeking a dynamic and passionate Middle School English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to cultivating a love for reading and writing in students while providing rigorous instruction that develops critical thinking and analytical skills. This role requires a teacher who can create an engaging learning environment deliver effective lessons and use data to inform instruction and improve student outcomes. 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Plan and deliver high-quality standards-aligned lessons in reading writing and literacy that foster critical thinking and a love of literature. 
  • Incorporate diverse texts and culturally responsive teaching practices to create an inclusive classroom that reflects the experiences of all students. 
  • Use formative and summative assessments to track student progress analyze data and adjust instruction to meet the needs of all learners. 
  • Foster a classroom environment that promotes discussion collaboration and a deep appreciation for literature and the power of language. 
  • Set high expectations for student achievements and behavior while providing appropriate support to ensure every students success. 
  • Establish and maintain strong communication with families to support student learning and build a strong school community. 
  • Collaborate with colleagues and academic coaches to enhance curriculum and teaching practices and to ensure alignment with school-wide goals. 
  • Embrace feedback and work with academic coaches to continuously improve instructional practices and professional development. 
  • Take ownership of your own professional growth by seeking opportunities for learning and self-improvement. 
  • Participate in school-wide events family conferences and professional development activities to support school culture and community. 
  • Participate actively in ongoing coaching observation and feedback cycles team learning and required professional development; implement feedback and agreed-upon action steps to strengthen instructional practice. 

EXPECTATIONS 

  • Arrive at school by 8:10 a.m. 
  • Attend professional development including summer onboarding. 
  • Track and analyze student data regularly and attend team meetings. 
  • Fulfill all expectations outlined in the KIPP Employee Handbook.

Qualifications :

  • Valid Indiana teaching license or in the process of applying for reciprocity with a valid out-of-state license (required). 
  • Bachelors degree in education or related field (required). 
  • Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in middle school math (preferred). 
  • Experience using data to inform instruction and improve student outcomes (preferred).

  • Pass a criminal background check as required by law (required). 

Additional Information :

Licensed teacher starting at $50000
Salary is commensurate with experience and includes a highly competitive benefits package. Opportunities for performance-based bonuses are also available.
