Job Summary

We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for PhD-level scientists with native or near-native Ukrainian fluency and advanced expertise in chemistry biology or closely related scientific disciplines.

This role focuses on applying scientific expertise and bilingual language skills to the evaluation of specialised technical content in Ukrainian. Selected experts will develop advanced scientific prompts review technical responses for accuracy and quality and apply structured evaluation standards to sensitive and dual-use scientific subject matter. Prior AI or machine-learning experience is not required.

Key Responsibilities

Scientific Content Development

  • Write expert-level scientific prompts in Ukrainian
  • Develop technically rigorous content across specialised chemistry biology or related scientific topics
  • Apply advanced subject-matter knowledge when constructing realistic scientific scenarios
  • Ensure terminology and technical concepts are scientifically accurate
  • Produce content appropriate for PhD-level scientific evaluation

Scientific Accuracy Review

  • Evaluate technical responses for scientific accuracy completeness and relevance
  • Identify incorrect assumptions terminology mechanisms or conclusions
  • Assess whether scientific reasoning is appropriately supported
  • Distinguish substantive technical errors from minor presentation issues
  • Apply professional research judgement when reviewing complex material

Chemistry & Biological Sciences

  • Apply expertise from fields such as organic chemistry inorganic chemistry molecular biology microbiology virology genetics or related disciplines
  • Evaluate laboratory and computational concepts within your specialist area
  • Review scientific methods experimental reasoning and technical terminology
  • Assess whether proposed scientific approaches reflect modern research practice
  • Apply deep specialist knowledge rather than broad generalist familiarity

Scientific Safety & Dual-Use Evaluation

  • Evaluate scientific content involving potentially sensitive or dual-use information
  • Apply structured guidelines to determine appropriate handling of technical material
  • Exercise sound judgement around chemical biological radiological or nuclear subject matter
  • Identify content requiring additional caution or contextual evaluation
  • Document the reasoning behind scientific safety judgements clearly

Radiological & Nuclear Topics

  • Contribute relevant expertise where supported by your academic or professional background
  • Review topics involving radiochemistry nuclear chemistry radiation physics or energetic materials
  • Assess scientific terminology processes and technical assumptions
  • Apply appropriate safety considerations to specialised material
  • Evaluate content within the limits of your professional expertise

Technical Evaluation & Annotation

  • Review and annotate scientific responses against structured criteria
  • Assess accuracy helpfulness and adherence to project guidelines
  • Classify prompts and conversations consistently
  • Identify nuanced technical issues requiring specialist judgement
  • Provide concise written explanations supporting evaluation decisions

Ukrainian Language Review

  • Produce technically accurate and natural Ukrainian-language scientific content
  • Evaluate terminology and phrasing for linguistic and scientific precision
  • Identify mistranslations or wording that changes technical meaning
  • Apply native or near-native cultural and linguistic judgement
  • Communicate clearly in written English when documenting evaluation decisions

Ideal Profile

  • PhD completed or currently in progress in chemistry biology or a closely related scientific discipline
  • Native or near-native fluency in Ukrainian
  • Business-level written English
  • Deep expertise within a specific scientific subfield
  • Strong familiarity with modern laboratory and/or computational techniques
  • Relevant expertise may include:
    • Organic or inorganic chemistry
    • Molecular biology
    • Microbiology
    • Virology
    • Genetics
    • Radiochemistry or nuclear chemistry
    • Radiation physics
    • Energetic materials
  • Strong scientific reasoning and attention to technical detail
  • Sound judgement regarding scientific safety and responsible treatment of dual-use information
  • Coursework or research involving chemical safety and security biosafety biosecurity or hazardous-materials handling is advantageous
  • Experience reviewing grading evaluating or red-teaming technical content is advantageous
  • Prior AI or machine-learning experience is not required
  • Candidates based in Ukraine or wider Eastern Europe are particularly encouraged to apply although applicants based elsewhere are also welcome

Engagement Details

  • Part-time independent contractor engagement
  • Fully remote
  • Flexible scheduling based on project requirements
  • Compensation: $40$45/hour
  • Immediate start
  • Ukraine or wider Eastern Europe is preferred but not required
  • Training on the project workflow is provided
  • Projects may be extended shortened or concluded based on project needs and performance
  • Work must be completed without using confidential or proprietary information belonging to any employer client institution or other third party
  • H1-B and STEM OPT support is unavailable for this engagement
