The Role

Oakwood Vets are growing and were looking for a Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly and supportive team in Harleston South Norfolk.

This is an exciting time to join us. Were currently part-way through a refurbishment programme which will see us gain new consulting rooms a second operating theatre a new cattery and a dedicated compassion suite.

Were proud of the practice were building and more importantly the team were building it with. We were recently awarded Outstanding in the PSS Awards for Environmental Sustainability and achieved 3 stars in the Be Heard employee engagement survey.

Were looking for someone who enjoys working as part of a collaborative team values excellent patient and client care and wants to play an active role in the continued development of the practice.

The role will involve a mixture of consulting and routine surgery with opportunities to develop your own clinical interests. An interest in surgery would be particularly welcome working alongside our current surgery certificate holder.

Were open to both full-time and part-time applications and are happy to discuss what might work for you.

About Us

Oakwood Vets is an established small animal practice with a long history of caring for pets in the local community.

We are an RCVS-accredited practice with a varied caseload and a strong focus on clinical development teamwork and excellent standards of care.

Youll be joining a 6-vet team with this role bringing us to 7 vets. Our current team includes:

• 3 full-time vets and 3 part-time vets
• A surgery certificate holder
• A vet studying towards a feline medicine certificate
• A recent graduate
• 7 RVNs and 1 SVN
• 2 Animal Nursing Assistants
• Nursing team members with additional qualifications and interests in behaviour anaesthesia rabbit medicine and rabbit anaesthesia

Were looking for a Veterinary Surgeon who:

• Enjoys a varied mix of consulting and surgery
• Is confident with routine surgical procedures
• Has excellent communication and client care skills
• Works collaboratively as part of a team
• Is happy to support and encourage colleagues
• Takes an interest in continual practice improvement
• Is keen to develop their clinical skills and interests

Most importantly were looking for someone who will fit into our friendly team and share our commitment to providing excellent care to our patients and clients.

The Rota

We believe in creating a working pattern that supports a good work-life balance.

• 4 days per week 8am - 6pm
• Every 4th week your day off will be a Friday giving you a long weekend
• 2 in 5 Saturday mornings 8am - 12pm
• No out-of-hours

Harleston is a beautiful market town in the heart of the Waveney Valley surrounded by the South Norfolk countryside.

With independent shops cafés and historic buildings it offers a great balance of town and countryside living. Norwich is around 30 minutes away while the Suffolk coast and Brecks are also within easy reach.

There are good rail connections to London making Harleston a great place to live and work.
