Are you serious about building a career in accountancy and finance and looking for an opportunity where you can develop your practical experience alongside your AAT studies

We are recruiting a Trainee Accounts Assistant to join the finance team of an established family-run business in the Bridlington area.

This could be a great next step if you have already started an AAT qualification including AAT Level 2 or if you have a genuine interest in accountancy and are ready to begin your professional studies.

Youll gain hands-on experience across several areas of finance including purchase ledger credit control bank reconciliations payroll and management accounts while receiving support to continue developing your accounting knowledge and qualifications.

What youll be doing

Working alongside an experienced finance team youll gradually build your knowledge and take on more responsibility as your confidence develops.

Your duties will include:

  • Supporting purchase ledger and general accounts processes
  • Assisting with credit control and maintaining customer accounts
  • Completing bank and account reconciliations
  • Supporting payroll processes
  • Assisting with the preparation of management accounts
  • Processing and checking financial information
  • Maintaining accurate accounting records
  • Supporting the wider finance team with day-to-day accounts duties

This variety will give you a strong understanding of how a finance department operates and the opportunity to put your AAT studies into practice.

What were looking for

Were particularly interested in hearing from people who can demonstrate a genuine interest in developing a career in accountancy.

You may already be studying towards AAT Level 2 or another stage of the AAT qualification or you may be looking for the right opportunity to begin your professional studies.

You will need:

  • GCSE Maths and English at grade 4 or above or equivalent
  • A clear interest in developing a long-term career in accounts and finance
  • Good numerical skills and attention to detail
  • Confidence using computers and learning new systems
  • The ability to work accurately and organise your workload
  • A positive attitude towards learning and professional development

Previous experience within an accounts department is not essential. What is important is that you can demonstrate why accountancy is the career you want to pursue.

AAT study support and development

This is a trainee opportunity with AAT study support giving you the chance to develop your professional qualification alongside practical accounting experience.

If you have already started AAT this could provide the opportunity to continue your studies while developing your experience in the workplace.
