We have an exciting opportunity for a Structural Design Engineer to join our Engineering team at Balmoral Tanks in our Glasgow office.
This is a key role within the business where you will be responsible for producing and validating designs for new and existing products supporting continuous improvement and providing technical expertise across multiple departments.
Working closely with engineering production and sales teams youll play a vital role in delivering high-quality innovative solutions that meet both customer requirements and industry standards.
What youll be doing
Producing designs for new and modified products
Carrying out structural analysis including finite element analysis (FEA)
Reviewing design briefs specifications and relevant standards
Supporting product trials testing and validation activities
Preparing design reports test procedures and technical documentation
Checking and reviewing design work completed by others
Providing technical support to production sales and site services teams
Liaising with certification bodies to achieve product approvals
Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality and reduce costs
What were looking for
Qualifications & Experience
Degree in Structural Engineering (or equivalent)
23 years engineering experience including structural analysis
Experience or exposure to finite element analysis (FEA)
Knowledge of steel structures and Eurocodes (desirable)
Technical Skills
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
Strong organisational and analytical skills
Experience with engineering software (training provided where required)
AutoCAD Inventor Robot Nastran or similar tools (desirable)
Personal Attributes
Strong attention to detail and ability to work to tight deadlines
A proactive and solutions-focused mindset
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
A commitment to quality safety and continuous improvement
