As a Staff Data Engineer at BP PLC you will be instrumental in designing building and maintaining scalable and robust data pipelines and systems. You will play a key role in enabling data-driven decisions across the organization by ensuring high-quality accessible and reliable data infrastructure.

Job Responsibilities

• Design develop and optimize complex data models databases and data warehousing solutions including relational data modeling.

• Implement and manage continuous deployment and release pipelines for data solutions adhering to Agility core practices.

• Develop and maintain robust data ingestion transformation and processing scripts.

• Ensure the security and integrity of data systems adhering to Information Security best practices.

• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including data scientists analysts and software engineers to understand data requirements and deliver solutions.

• Contribute to system design and architecture discussions focusing on scalability performance and resilience.

• Manage configuration and source control for data infrastructure and code utilizing appropriate tools and processes.

• Facilitate technical discussions and mentor junior team members fostering a high-performing team environment.

• Drive improvements in service operations and resilience for data platforms.

• Apply digital project management principles to deliver data initiatives efficiently.

• Communicate complex technical concepts clearly and concisely to diverse audiences.
  

Job Qualifications

• Proven experience in Database Design and Relational Data Modelling.

• Strong proficiency in Scripting languages (e.g. Python SQL).

• Demonstrated experience with Continuous deployment and release processes.

• Expertise in Source control and code management (e.g. Git).

• Solid understanding of System Design principles for scalable data solutions.

• Experience with Configuration management and related tools.

• Knowledge of Information Security best practices in a data context.

• Ability to apply Agility core practices in data engineering workflows.

• Excellent Collaboration and Communication skills.

• Experience in Creating a high performing team and Facilitation.

• Familiarity with Digital Project Management methodologies.

• Understanding of Service operations and resilience for data platforms.
