Hours: Monday to Friday 8:00am5:00pm
Location: Hybrid (required to visit Midlands site occasionally)

An established food manufacturing business is looking to recruit a Specification Technologist to join its Technical team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced food specification professional to take responsibility for finished product specifications and artwork approval working closely with internal teams and retail customers to support successful product launches.

The Role

As Specification Technologist you will create and maintain accurate product specifications for a range of customers while reviewing and approving artwork in line with agreed deadlines and critical paths.

You will work collaboratively with colleagues across Technical NPD Ingredients and Packaging as well as liaising with external retail customers.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Completing finished product specifications and approving artwork in accordance with critical paths.
  • Supporting successful new product launches through accurate and timely specification management.
  • Working alongside Ingredients and Packaging Specification Technologists to approve raw material and packaging specifications.
  • Working closely with NPD throughout the product launch process.
  • Providing specification and technical support to internal site teams.
  • Liaising with retail customers on specification and artwork requirements.
  • Ensuring a consistently high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

About You

To be considered for this role you should have:

  • A food-related Further Education qualification.
  • Previous experience writing food specifications.
  • Knowledge and experience of major retailers online specification systems and critical paths.
  • Experience using retailer artwork approval systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Food Information for Consumers Regulation.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A self-motivated and proactive approach.
  • A full UK driving licence.

A food-related HND or degree and/or a food labelling qualification would be advantageous.

Working Environment

The role is predominantly office based; however you will occasionally be required to enter a food manufacturing environment which can be refrigerated and noisy.

Travel between Midlands locations and occasionally to other company sites will also be required.
