Job Summary

What youll be doing
Supporting autistic pupils with both learning and behaviour in a specialist setting.
Using visual communication systems Makaton and assistive tech to help non-verbal learners communicate.
Building connection through intensive interaction social engagement turn-taking and early communication skills.
Using Positive Behaviour Support and co-regulation to guide pupils through moments of distress safely and effectively.
Working closely with teachers SaLT OT and behaviour specialists to follow and improve individual support plans.
What were looking for
Experience with autism non-verbal pupils or complex communication needs.
Calm patient consistent.
Someone who actually enjoys specialist work and wants to get better at it.

Required Education:
Postgraduate qualification or accredited training in SEND (e.g. National Award for SEN Coordination Autism Education Trust dyslexia/SpLD or SEMH)Proficiency in alternative/augmentative communication methodsMakaton PECS AAC using evidence-based interventions such as TEACCH SCERTS or Positive Behaviour in Team-Teach MAPA or similar de-escalation and safe-handling with assistive ed-tech tools and adaptive software
