An inclusive and forward-thinking special needs setting in East London is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Specialist Complex Needs and Behaviour Assistant to join their team. This is a permanent term-time position offering an opportunity to work in a rewarding educational environment where pupil wellbeing and progress come first.
This is an ideal role for individuals with experience in behaviour support or specialist SEN settings who are passionate about inclusive education and pupil development.
Key Responsibilities:
Support pupils with complex learning and behavioural needs on a 1:1 and small-group basis
Help implement personalised learning and behaviour plans
Foster emotional regulation communication and independence
Liaise with educational staff therapists and families to ensure holistic support
Contribute to a calm positive and inclusive learning environment

Knowledge of SEN strategies safeguarding and positive behaviour approaches

Required Education:
Postgraduate qualification or accredited training in SEND (e.g. National Award for SEN Coordination Autism Education Trust dyslexia/SpLD or SEMH)Proficiency in alternative/augmentative communication methodsMakaton PECS AAC using evidence-based interventions such as TEACCH SCERTS or Positive Behaviour in Team-Teach MAPA or similar de-escalation and safe-handling with assistive ed-tech tools and adaptive software
