The Assistant Set Builder is responsible for supporting the day-to-day maintenance of all studio aspects to ensure the consistent high-quality function of the studio space and all set builds or changes. Acting as a runner to shoots Art Directors and Photographers the Set Assistant provides essential assistance to ensure creative visions are realized safely and efficiently.
Role Responsibilities:
Set Build & Studio Maintenance
- Ensure all set builds are correctly assembled in a safe and efficient manner.
- Work in partnership with studio teams to follow Art Director briefs and photography lighting diagrams.
- Take responsibility for the end-to-end maintenance of seasonal sets.
- Assist photographers with lighting setups and equipment when required.
- Maintain the cleanliness and tidiness of all studio sets.
Prop & Equipment Management
- Manage the organisation maintenance and storage of all studio props.
- Order props and equipment as needed while accurately maintaining associated expenses.
- Arrange couriers for the movement of props and products between different sites.
- Assist in organizing studio equipment and sourcing the hire of any additional equipment required for specific projects.
Team Collaboration
- Act as a runner for shoots providing ad-hoc support to Art Directors Photographers and the Studio Manager.
- Demonstrate excellent teamwork and communication skills to ensure seamless studio operations.
Technical Requirements
- Knowledge of set builds materials and paints; experience configuring new set designs is a bonus.
- Experienced in manual handling and comfortable moving heavy flats.
- Previous experience using power tools and assembling sets/props; carpentry experience is preferable.
- An interest in set design and knowledge of current photographic kit and equipment is desirable.
- Excellent prioritization and organization skil
