Senior Engineer

We are looking for an enthusiastic Software Engineer to work at the forefront of our cloud modernisation within our Credit & Verification Services. This is a hybrid role requiring travelling to Nottingham 2 days a week.

Background:

Credit and Verification Services currently comprises nearly 100 engineering teams who deliver over 200 products achieving significant revenue per annum for our UK Business.

Our Tech:

Our architecture is built on Kubernetes (EKS) enabling us to run scalable resilient microservices in the cloud. On top of this we leverage a wide range of AWS services (Lambda Kinesis Dynamo and RDS to name just a few) to enhance performance observability and integration across our platform placing a strong emphasis on quality and automation.

Reporting into our Lead Developer you will be part of a high-performance engineering team that delivers the product backlog of Ascend Cloud Foundation Platform. You will work with other Software Engineers to both maintain existing systems and build our cloud-native microservices and web applications using the latest technologies and architectural patterns.

Main Responsibilities:

• Work as a software developer in an agile team to provide high-quality software solutions within agreed timelines ensuring alignment with business requirements and agile principles.
• Translate our requirements to clean scalable code ensuring minimal defects.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional team members to design test and release.
• Collaborate in development processes a culture of continuous integration continuous delivery and continuous improvement.
• Follow DevSecOps practices into the development lifecycle to ensure code quality and security while leveraging static code analysis and security scan tools.
• Provide concise documentation for code processes and system architecture to facilitate knowledge sharing and maintainability.

Qualifications :

• Hands-on experience 6 Core Framework building scalable maintainable and performant REST/SOAP/RPC APIs with microservice or SOA architectures using with proficiency in C#
• Experience building secure mission-critical high-volume transaction web-based software systems in regulated environments.
• Proficient in writing high-quality unit and integration tests using xUnit or nUnit with hands-on experience in Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Behaviour-Driven Development (BDD). Experienced in using mocking frameworks to ensure test reliability and alignment with acceptance criteria.
• Familiarity with clean architecture SOLID principles and design patterns.
• Experience with any of NOSQL or SQL Databases.
• Knowledge of Containers Docker.
• Working knowledge of any source control preferably git (e.g. Bitbucket Github Gitlab)
• Fundamental knowledge of CI & CD.

Useful skills:

• Working knowledge of using GEN AI tools for coding
• Knowledge with Python/Scala or big data frameworks (e.g. spark)
• Experience having worked in an agile team using either Scrum or KANBAN.
• Experience working with Domain Driven Design Event Driven Architecture.
• Experience with any of streaming messaging event bus technologies.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform or AWS CloudFormation or CDK.
• Experience on static code quality analysis tools vulnerability management.
