A thriving secondary school in Wells Somerset is seeking an enthusiastic and organised Science Technician to join its science department.
The successful candidate will provide practical and technical support to teachers and students across biology chemistry and physics helping ensure that lessons are properly prepared and laboratories are maintained to a high standard.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with laboratory experience or a practical scientific background who would enjoy working within a busy school environment.
You will be responsible for preparing equipment and materials before lessons supporting practical demonstrations maintaining laboratory resources and ensuring equipment is stored appropriately.
Responsibilities will include:
Preparing equipment and materials for practical lessons
Setting up experiments and demonstrations
Maintaining laboratory equipment
Checking equipment for faults or damage
Managing stock levels and ordering supplies
Ensuring laboratories are clean and organised
Supporting teachers with practical activities
Following relevant health and safety procedures
Maintaining appropriate records
Assisting with preparation for examinations and practical assessments
Previous experience in a laboratory school college or scientific environment would be advantageous.
The successful candidate will be methodical safety-conscious and comfortable working around young people. You should also be able to manage several practical tasks while working to tight lesson schedules.
