A busy secondary academy in Dartford is seeking a reliable and organised Science Technician to join its Science Department immediately. The successful candidate will provide day-to-day technical support to teachers and ensure laboratories are prepared safe and fully equipped for practical lessons.
Prepare practical lessons: Set up apparatus chemicals specimens and equipment for Biology Chemistry and Physics lessons.
Support teaching staff: Work closely with Science teachers to ensure practical activities run smoothly.
Maintain laboratories: Keep laboratories preparation rooms and storage areas clean organised and safe.
Manage equipment: Check maintain and report faults with scientific equipment.
Stock control: Monitor consumables and assist with ordering and maintaining appropriate stock levels.
Health and safety: Follow school procedures and relevant CLEAPSS guidance.
Science background: Previous experience in a laboratory school or similar scientific environment is desirable.
Practical skills: Comfortable handling laboratory equipment and preparing practical activities.
Organised: Able to manage multiple requests and changing lesson requirements.
Safety conscious: Understands the importance of safe laboratory procedures.
Reliable: Can work independently while supporting a wider department.
IT confident: Comfortable maintaining basic records and using school systems.
Busy Science Department: Support a team of specialist Biology Chemistry and Physics teachers.
Dedicated laboratories: Work across several practical classrooms and preparation areas.
Well-equipped facilities: Regular practical work across KS3 and GCSE.
Supportive team: Work closely with teaching staff and other technicians.
Professional development: Training provided where required.
