We are recruiting for a Science Technician to join a well-equipped secondary school in Oxford. The successful candidate will support the science department by preparing practical resources and ensuring laboratories are safe organised and ready for lessons.

This role would suit someone with laboratory scientific educational or technical experience who enjoys working in a busy environment and supporting practical learning.

• Prepare equipment chemicals specimens and practical resources for science lessons.

• Set up experiments and demonstrations in accordance with departmental requirements.

• Ensure laboratories are clean organised and ready for teaching.

• Maintain and safely store scientific equipment and materials.

• Monitor stock levels and arrange replacement resources when required.

• Carry out routine checks of laboratory equipment.

• Support teachers during practical lessons where appropriate.

• Follow COSHH health and safety and laboratory procedures.

• Dispose of chemicals and laboratory waste in accordance with school procedures.

• Maintain accurate records of equipment resources and safety checks.

• Previous laboratory science technician technical or similar experience is desirable.

• Strong understanding of health and safety procedures.

• Good attention to detail and ability to follow written procedures.

• Organised approach to managing equipment and resources.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a department.

• Good communication skills and a professional approach.

• Relevant scientific or technical qualifications would be advantageous.
