A welcoming school in Bridgwater is seeking a reliable School Caretaker to support the daily maintenance security and general presentation of the school site.

The successful candidate will work closely with the wider premises team and will be responsible for ensuring the buildings and grounds remain safe functional and well maintained.

• Manage the secure opening and closing of the school site.

• Carry out daily inspections of buildings classrooms communal areas and grounds.

• Complete general maintenance repairs decorating and basic DIY tasks.

• Monitor heating lighting water alarm and security systems.

• Support regular fire safety and health and safety checks.

• Liaise with contractors attending the school site.

• Assist with deliveries furniture movement and equipment storage.

• Maintain outdoor areas and support seasonal grounds duties.

• Report hazards defects and significant maintenance issues promptly.

• Keep accurate records of inspections and completed maintenance.

• Previous experience in caretaking maintenance facilities or a practical trade.

• Good understanding of general building maintenance.

• Knowledge of health and safety procedures.

• Reliable organised and able to work independently.

• Practical approach to problem solving.

• Good communication skills.

• Enhanced background checks will be required.
