We are seeking to appoint a reliable practical and hardworking School Caretaker on behalf of a well-established school in Aylesbury. The successful candidate will become an important member of the schools premises team helping to ensure that the buildings grounds and facilities remain safe secure clean and fully operational.

This is a varied hands-on position ideal for someone with experience in caretaking facilities maintenance estates or a skilled trade.

• Act as a keyholder and manage the secure opening and closing of the school premises.

• Carry out daily inspections of buildings classrooms corridors playgrounds and external areas.

• Complete general maintenance DIY minor plumbing joinery and basic repair work.

• Monitor heating lighting water security and other essential site systems.

• Maintain the school grounds including litter picking and general outdoor upkeep.

• Prepare classrooms halls and other areas for meetings activities and school events.

• Liaise with contractors and provide access to external service providers.

• Report significant defects and maintenance requirements to the appropriate member of staff.

• Assist with health and safety checks and ensure emergency exits remain clear.

• Maintain accurate records relating to maintenance inspections and site issues.

• Previous experience in caretaking premises facilities maintenance or a relevant trade.

• Good practical and problem-solving skills.

• Understanding of basic health and safety procedures.

• Ability to work independently and use initiative.

• Professional and approachable manner when dealing with staff visitors and contractors.

• Previous experience working within a school or public-sector environment would be advantageous.
