This is a well-established Independent Secondary School in Windsor serving pupils aged 1118 and providing a structured supportive and academically ambitious environment.

The school places safeguarding pupil wellbeing and positive relationships at the centre of its approach. Staff work collectively to ensure that pupils are supported listened to and able to access appropriate help when concerns arise.

The school is seeking an experienced Safeguarding Lead to coordinate safeguarding procedures and contribute to a strong culture of pupil protection and welfare.

The Role

The Safeguarding Lead will work closely with senior leaders teaching staff pastoral teams pupils families and external professionals.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating day-to-day safeguarding procedures.

  • Acting as a key point of contact for safeguarding concerns.

  • Ensuring concerns are recorded accurately.

  • Maintaining confidential safeguarding records.

  • Monitoring safeguarding referrals and follow-up actions.

  • Providing guidance to staff.

  • Supporting safeguarding meetings.

  • Liaising with external agencies where appropriate.

  • Working closely with pastoral and welfare teams.

  • Identifying patterns or emerging concerns.

  • Supporting safeguarding training and staff updates.

  • Contributing to policy development and review.

  • Ensuring safeguarding documentation is maintained.

  • Supporting appropriate communication with families.

  • Promoting a strong safeguarding culture throughout the school.

Safeguarding Practice

The successful candidate will help ensure safeguarding remains embedded across the whole school.

You will support staff in understanding their responsibilities and ensure concerns are reported through the appropriate channels.

The role requires excellent organisation because safeguarding cases may involve multiple records meetings referrals and follow-up actions.

Working With Pupils

The Safeguarding Lead may work directly with pupils when concerns are raised.

This can include:

  • Listening to pupils.

  • Recording concerns.

  • Working with pastoral staff.

  • Supporting appropriate interventions.

  • Ensuring pupils know how to access help.

  • Contributing to wider wellbeing initiatives.

The successful candidate must maintain appropriate professional boundaries while remaining approachable.

External Agencies

Where necessary the role will involve working with external professionals and agencies.

The Safeguarding Lead must ensure relevant information is communicated appropriately and that actions are documented accurately.

Person Specification

The school is looking for someone with:

  • Significant safeguarding or child protection experience.

  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding procedures.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Excellent organisational abilities.

  • Strong record-keeping skills.

  • The ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • Confidence advising and supporting colleagues.

  • The ability to communicate sensitively with pupils and families.

  • Strong professional judgement.

  • The ability to work with external agencies.

  • A genuine commitment to pupil safety and wellbeing.

Previous experience as a DSL or Deputy DSL would be advantageous.
